Lake Gwelup Primary School

Throughout the year, representative teams participate in a variety of events and competitions and all students complete an in-term swimming program. Students are also fortunate enough to participate in a variety of clinics run by expert coaches from local sporting clubs thanks to the Sporting Schools program.

General Information

  • Students participate in several sport and physical education sessions throughout a normal school week. All classes take part in morning fitness sessions during the week.
  • Our school is an active participant in the Your Move program and our physical education teachers are qualified to run the Bike Education Program.
  • Lake Gwelup Primary has a number of representative netball teams. These teams participate in weekend competitions, organised and coached by parents.
  • Tennis coaching on the school courts is provided by Instyle Tennis. Parents are required to pay a fee to participate in these 'before-school' sessions.
  • Mark Lee Football Coaching run soccer lessons before school on the school oval. Parents pay a small fee for these fun and exciting sessions.
  • Redhage Basketball have coaching on the school courts once a week and the school also rosters training times for school teams coached by parents.
  • All students take part in a Cross-Country running event annually and selected students participate in an interschool cross-country event.
  • The school’s Faction Athletics carnival which is held in Term 3 combines both juniors and seniors and has a strong focus on student participation. It is a hugely successful event and one of the many highlights on the sporting calendar.
  • An Interschool Athletics carnival is also held in term 3, involving schools
  • Senior students participate in a winter lightning carnival, competing against eight other schools in the north metropolitan area.
  • Our school also boasts extensive grassed play areas, hard courts for tennis, basketball and netball as well as nature playground and sensory gardens, providing challenging and enjoyable activities for all students.
